With humble beginnings as a luxury leather goods company, Prada was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada. Generations later under the creative direction of his granddaughter Miuccia Prada, this leather goods company would become a legendary Fashion house. Her creative and eclectic designs quickly attracted editorial attention and a loyal fan base. Many of her original designs, including the Iconic Tessuto Nylon Backpack are still being produced today.
In 1989 the company introduced a ready to wear line that saw huge success. Shortly after in 1992 they added the slightly less expensive Miu Miu brand geared toward a younger clientele. Did you know Miu Miu is actually Miuccia's childhood nickname?
Miuccia is still the creative director to this day. Her handbag designs range from practical and cool (think tessuto nylon) to sophisticated and sleek ( like the Saffiano Lux Tote).
